  The Stemlock Stemliner is a blast hole liner manufactured to withstand the rigors of site installation. Its anti-static additives greatly reduce static build-up. Stemliners are available in two styles: double wall and single wall.

The patented double wall Stemliner is constructed like a liner within a liner. The double wall Stemliner is ideal for demanding environments such as deep holes with long sleep times and wet conditions. Manufactured to ensure that loading explosives will not rupture the liner.

The single wall Stemliner is made from high quality material blends. It is designed for moderately long sleep times and wet conditions.

Stemliners have a "V" pocket with a pouch to add weight for easy installation. Stemliners are manufactured at an ISO certified plant.

Stemstand

The Stemstand is an aluminum stand that holds the Stemliner securely in place while explosives are loaded.

Suggestions for Maximum Benefit of Stemliners

  • If used in coal mines for blast casting we feel that the Stemliner will give best casting results using ANFO, or a low percentage emulsion/ANFO blend. In angled holes, high emulsion blends, being sticky, Put undue pressure on the Stemliner. The Stemliner will provide the necessary water resistance if used properly. The use of a low percentage blend may give you some added protection.
  • For best results either with straight ANFO or blends we recommend adequate priming. Tests run over the years have shown that large high velocity boosters give the best results. Small cast boosters, even 1 pound, can literally get lost in a large diameter hole due to contamination or a poor truck mix.
  • We recommend that boosters of at least 4" x 10 lb. be used. High velocity water gels or emulsions with a cast booster assembly give the extra boost that insensitive products such as ANFO or blends need to perform properly.
  • The Stemliners can help, along with the proper product and adequate priming, to reduce the production of noxious gasses (NOx).
  • Stemliners prevent migration of explosives from the hole due to cracks, water infiltration or other hole imperfections. This can be especially helpful in front row holes that have back break.

WARNING

      All explosives can produce noxious fumes when detonated and the use of liners may increase the production of these fumes. The users of Stemliners should realize that the post blast fumes may be harmful and precautions such as adequate ventilation and other Mine Safety and Health Administration regulations are absolutely necessary to prevent potential harm.

      Plastic liners such as Stemliners can act as capacitors or holders of static electricity. For this reason Stemliners should never be used with electric caps or any initiation system that may be sensitive to static discharges. You should check with your initiation system manufacturer before using Stemliners. In addition make sure you are in compliance with all blasting regulations; Federal, State and local.
